Patrolmen's Benevolent Association Patrick J. Lynch Oct. 18 announced that the union was filing a Federal suit against the NYPD's new Breathalyzer policy, arguing that the move violates its members' Constitutional rights and that the department is seeking to rectify a problem that doesn't exist. The following day, Judge George Daniels of Federal District Court in Manhattan denied the PBA's motion for a temporary restraining order. The unions representing NYPD Detectives, Sergeants and Lieutenants submitted a separate complaint earlier in the week.
