Police Officers Save Lives in Queens Fire

Three police officers were injured early Wednesday morning while saving several people from a fire in Queens.

Police say the officers saved 10 people after the fire broke out just before 3:30 this morning. The officers arrived on the scene at 21st Street in Astoria and pulled out all the building's residents before firefighters arrived.

Two of the officers and nine of the people rescued were taken to Elmhurst Hospital with smoke inhalation. The other officer suffered a knee injury.

The fire was brought under control within about an hour
