NYPD is spending millions on its "Filing Now Open" recruitment
ads for the June exam, but what the ads don't say is that filing
closes on Friday.
Candidates who wish to take the exam scheduled for June 8 must tender their applications by midnight Friday. Applications may be submitted by mail or electronically.
There is no filing fee.
To be appointed as a police officer you must be at least 21 and have not reached your 35th birthday by March 6, 2002.
At the time of appointment, candidates must be U.S. citizens and have completed 60 college credits with at least a 2.0 index or earned a high school diploma and served two years of honorable, full-time military service.
Candidates who pass the written exam must also successfully undergo medical and psychological assessment, physical testing and drug screening.
Candidates must live in the five boroughs of New York City, or Nassau, Suffolk, Westchester, Rockland, Orange or Putnam counties.
New York City people who pass the exam will have 5 points added to their scores.
