MANHATTAN: POLICE AND FIREFIGHTERS PROTEST Chanting "No contract, no work." hundreds of city police officers and firemen marched through Lower Manhattan to City Hall yesterday to protest the lack of new contracts. The demonstration was the latest in a series of protests by the Patrolmen's Benevolent Association and the Uniformed Firefighters Association in their labor dispute with the city. "What you're seeing here is the frustration of the New York City P.B.A. and U.F.A.," said Patrick Lynch, who leads the police union. Mayor Michael R. Bloomberg said to reporters, "This policy of following me around and yelling and screaming is counterproductive." (AP)
