To All Delegates and Members

April 14, 2000

In anticipation of a threatened strike against residential apartment buildings by Local 32B-32J of the Building Service Employees Union, building owners and managers have been hiring private security to assume the duties of the striking union members.

It is likely that many of these prospective replacements have been and will be off-duty police officers. If you have been approached to work as a replacement or in the event that you will be, we urge you strongly not to accept a job as a scab in this situation. PBA members must show solidarity with other union members during labor disputes.

The 32B-32J contract expires April 21. The majority of the affected buildings are in Manhattan but there are also some in the other four boroughs and on Long Island.

Please don’t accept employment as security or as a replacement worker for striking 32B-32J members.

Fraternally,

Patrick J. Lynch
President
