To All Delegates and Members

July 18, 2000

Dear Member:

The PBA formally endorsed Congressman Rick Lazio’s candidacy for the United States Senate at a 10 a.m. press conference on the steps of City Hall Thursday, Sept. 7.

We are supporting Congressman Lazio in his race against Hillary Rodham Clinton for many reasons, the foremost being that he is opposed to the creation of a federal monitor for the NYPD, a proposal being pushed by the U.S. attorney in the Eastern District, whose bosses are Janet Reno and Bill Clinton. Hillary Rodham Clinton hasn’t said explicitly that she favors a federal monitor but it’s not hard to guess how she really feels about this crucial issue.

We are also impressed with Congressman Lazio’s pro-law enforcement voting record in the House of Representatives.

We urge you and your friends and family to vote for Rick Lazio.

Fraternally,

Patrick J. Lynch
President
