Chapter 594 (Laws of 2000) affords uniformed members of the service, who took authorized childcare leaves of absence, the opportunity to purchase pension service credit for such time. As described in Operations Order 11, dated 1/22/01, all claims for this service must be filed with the Police Pension Fund by 12/31/2001, or within ninety (90) day of termination of a current child care leave, whichever is later.
Chapter 571 (Laws of 2000) affords uniformed members of the service, who prior to June 30, 1992 were improperly prevented from transferring service credit is another qualified public retirement system to the Police Pension Fund, the opportunity to purchase pension service credit for such time. As described in Operations Order 11-1, dated 3/7/01, all claims for this service must be filed with the Police Pension Fund by 12/7/2001.
Due to the sunset provisions of these buybacks, I am strongly urging all eligible members to contact the Pension Section immediately and take full advantage of both laws.
Fraternally,
Patrick J. Lynch
