Dear Fellow Member:

Governor George E. Pataki will be making his formal announcement to seek a third term as our Governor, on Saturday May 11, 2002, at 11AM, on the steps of the City Hall Building in Peekskill, New York. This letter is being sent to active and retired Police Officers that live in up-state communities, surrounding Peekskill.

We ask that you join us for the Governor's announcement. The entire event should take less than one hour.

Governor Pataki has been a fervent and effective supporter of the PBA and the causes we hold close to our hearts and wallets. Governor Pataki has supported many pieces of legislation that are important for the membership, including the statute that allowed our collective bargaining dispute to be heard at P.E.R.B. This event is taking place just a few days after the final P.E.R.B. hearing and before the arbitrators decide the fate of our financial future.

I cannot stress too strongly how important our visible support for the Governor is during his bid for a third term. Please make the time in your schedule to be there on Saturday.
