Thirty-two years ago, Herman Bell was one of three men who ambushed
and assassinated New York City Police Officers Waverly Jones and Joseph Piagentini
in cold blood as they responded to a domestic dispute call. Herman Bell, who used
Piagentini’s own service revolver to fire the fatal shots, comes before
the state parole board on January 9, 2004 and incredibly there are people and
an elected official agitating for his release.
This was one of the most infamous cop killings in NYPD history and part of
a nationwide wave of murders of police officers by the Black Panthers and other
so-called black militants.
The
PBA is asking you to take immediate action in order to prevent the parole of this
cop killer. Please obtain as many signatures as possible on the attached petition
(click at left for printable PDF version) and fax it directly to Diane Piagentini
at 631-667-1829.
It is also important that as many of you as possible along with family members
and friends contact the parole board to voice your strong opposition to the release
of this vicious cop killer.
Write to the parole board at:
NY State Board of Parole
97 Central Avenue
Albany, NY 12206.
Fraternally,
Patrick J. Lynch
President
