Calling All NYC Police Officers to an Important Rally
1630 Hours Tuesday, June 8, 2004

Dear Members:

For the third time in as many rounds of bargaining, the City has failed to offer us a wage increase during negotiations. And, for the fourth time in five rounds, we are forced to go to arbitration to get a raise. While we continue to sweat blood for the City, the City continues to disrespect us at the bargaining table. Therefore, the PBA is joining with the United Federation of Teachers and the Uniformed Firefighters Association to rally for a fair contract on Tuesday, June 8, 2004. Muster time is 1630 hours in City Hall Park.

Joined by our families, friends and other supporters, we are going to assemble within earshot of Mayor Bloomberg’s office in City Hall Park to demonstrate our solidarity and give voice to our concerns. It will be a day not only for showing New Yorkers how we feel about the City’s complete failure to acknowledge at the bargaining table the tremendous work we do for the City, but also to ask New Yorkers to put all of their support behind us, as we do for them on a daily basis.

Your attendance is mandatory if we want our message to be heard loudly and clearly.

We are professionals, and we must act accordingly at all times. As you know, the eyes of the City will be upon us and our detractors will use any incident, real or imagined, to undermine our call for fair pay.

Thank you for your continued support and dedication. You, the members, are the union. In unity, we will prevail.

Fraternally,

Patrick J. Lynch
President
