Dec. 23 Said Pat Lynch about the acquittal of Lillo Brancato: "The only good thing is that this skunk is not walking out to spend Christmas with his family. The sad part is that neither is Daniel."   • Bronx 12 News reports an update on the Brancato trial in murder of PO Daniel Enchautegui. Concerning the mistrial of Timoshenko's third accused killer, Pat Lynch said: "What they [Timoshenko's family] wanted was their son to live in peace. For them to know there's justice. More reactions to absurd not-guilty verdict and Timoshenko/ Enchautegui follow up reports on NY1, Ch. 5, Ch. 7 and News 12 Brooklyn. In an article in the New York Times on proposed changes in the pension system, Pat Lynch, said changing the pension was breaking a longstanding promise to new recruits. “For decades, the city has managed to pay less than a market rate of pay for dangerous emergency service jobs because of the promise of stability and a fair pension. Remove those incentives and no one will want to take the risks or suffer the physical and mental toll those jobs inflict.” The New York Post, New York Times, Daily News cover Lynch's fury at the acquittal of Robert Ellis on murder charges: "This mongrel today got off with murder," said Lynch. "There are no words to describe the anger that New York City police officers have today. You can imagine what the family is going through today." In another News article, Lynch was quoted as saying about the behavior of Brancato's lawyer: "To sit there and have a professional attorney laughing as if this was a joke in front of a dead man's family is the most insulting thing that ever happened in front of a bench in this state,"

Video on New York 1 reports on Pat Lynch's response to a proposal to create a new pension tier for future hires. New York 1 also reports that the trials for the murders of of PO Enchautegui and PO Timoshenko are given to juries for deliberation. The Times, News and Post reports that Pat Lynch reacts angrily to Brancato's testimony at his trial for murdering PO Enchautegui, saying,"He's lying. He's an actor. He's acting on that stand just like he did in the movies." Of the jurors, he said, “I hope they’re not fooled by his fame.”

Jun. 27 The Chief reports that a dozen members of the City Council joined Pat Lynch on June 19 to demand the restoration of $16 million in funding to next year's budget to hire 1,000 new Police Officers. He said that the union's prediction that a short-handed force would precipitate a rise in crime had been prophetic. "Crime is on the way up," he contended. "That means murders, rapes and robberies."

Jun 25 In a Fox-5 video, MOS from the 71 Pct. and Pat Lynch support Timoshenko family at first of many court dates in murder of PO Russel Timoshenko. In eMaxHealth.com, Pat Lynch praises Governor Patterson for proposing an expansion of benefits for first responders. "Clearly Governor Paterson recognizes the great personal sacrifice made by all those who rallied to save and help the city recover after the attacks of 9/11" he said. "The Governor's proposal expands benefits to those responders whose welfare fell between the cracks of the first law. This bill should be supported by all of our legislators and signed into law as quickly as possible. We add our voice to all of those praising Governor Paterson for his proposal."

Feb. 15 The Chief publishes a letter-to-the-editor by Pat Lynch criticizing the newspaper for an article in the previous issue that reached pro-management conclusions. The Chief also runs Pat Lynch's photo and quotes in an article reporting the PBA's opposition to the city's request for added week to submit its briefs in the PERB arbitration: "The PBA is vehemently opposed to the city's request..."
Feb. 7-9 The Associated Press, the Daily News and the New York Post report the Parole Board's decision — under pressure from the PBA and from a slain cop's widow and other survivors — to rescind the parole of Shuaib Raheem, who killed Police Officer Stephen Gilroy in a botched robbery in 1973. "Plainly put, anyone who kills a police officer should hever even have the hope walking the streets of our city as a free person again," Pat Lynch said in a statement.
Feb. 8 Pat Lynch's photo and quotes are included in The Chief's coverage of the PBA's "Finest of the Finest" awards: "When there's danger and chaos, you always find a New York City cop running towards that unknown danger. And the reality is that many get injured or killed, and sometimes that gets skimmed over."
Feb. 4 Daily News quotes Pat Lynch in an article about a judge's ruling that two former PBA delegates must stand trial on charges they obstructed the investigation of the officer in a drunk-driving case in which four people were killed: "While this was an unfortunate and tragic incident, we don't believe there is any basis to hold the PBA liable for the act of an off-duty police officer in his private vehicle. The judge has decided that there are issues of fact that must be resolved and the PBA will fight this case to its conclusion and through appeal, if necessary."

Jan. 16 In a New York Sun article about PBA opposition to two programs for new officers, Pat Lynch says "Compensation is a mandatory subject of collective bargaining and we will not allow the city to bypass the process that exists to ensure fair treatment for all of our police officers."
Jan. 4 In his New Year's column, the Chief's editor brags about having predicted Pat Lynch's reelection in last year's piece. The Chief also quotes Lynch in an article about the PBA's campaign to keep cop-killer Shuaib Raheem in prison: "Violent felons should not be eligible for parole, and cop-killers should be incarcerated for life."
