P.O. Moira Smith

Fallen at the World Trade Center
September 11, 2001

Police Officer Moira A. Smith, 38, was appointed to the Transit Police Department on July 11, 1988, and was assigned to Transit Districts 2, 4 and 30 before being transferred to the 13 Precinct in March 1996.

Prior to becoming a police officer, she worked in the travel industry. While working in Transit District 4, she met her husband, PO James Smith, who is currently assigned to the Police Academy. Besides being an avid sports fan, PO Smith and her husband loved to travel. A recent destination was Spain, where they ran with the bulls in 1995.

P.O. Smith is survived by her husband; daughter Patricia; and sister Mary.
