PBA HotlineApril 29, 2003

Hello. This Bob Zink, PBA Recording Secretary.

To build support for our police officers who fight terrorism here at home and in support of our troops fighting in Iraq and Afghanistan, the PBA has initiated a billboard/bumper sticker campaign.

The first major billboard – a 20 foot tall and 60 foot wide ad -- has been installed alongside the Major Deegan Expressway in the Bronx at 149th Street just south of Yankee Stadium.

Under the title “Support Our Troops at Home and Abroad” it shows a New York City police officer on one side defending New Yorkers against crime and terrorism and a U.S. serviceman on the other side fighting in Operation Iraqi Freedom.

Similar billboards will be going up on the Long Island Expressway, the Brooklyn-Queens Expressway and other highways.

Posters will also be installed on 100 telephone booths in upper Manhattan and the four outer boroughs.

The PBA will continue to be proactive in its public relations campaign to help benefit our members.

This is Bob Zink. Thanks for calling the PBA Hotline.
