Hello, this is John Puglissi, 1st Vice President of
the Patrolmen’s Benevolent Association. Thanks for calling
the PBA Hotline.

On behalf of Pat Lynch, myself, and all of those who ran for PBA
office in the recent election, I would like to thank all of you
who voted.
The American Arbitration Association tells us that the turnout
was very strong for a union election. On average, union elections
around the country generate votes from about 30 percent of their
membership. Our election received ballots from over 55 percent of
our members, a full 25 percent more than average. We provide
the tallies for the Board, Trustee, and Financial Secretary
races around town on this website.

We are also happy to report a victory in Albany where we have taken
another step on the road to making arrest quotas illegal. On Friday,
June 13, the State Senate and State Assembly approved the measure
that, when signed by the Governor, would amend the State Labor Law
and make arrest quotas illegal in New York State. The PBA will be
encouraging the Governor to sign this amendment into law.
For more information on pending legislation
you can log on to the PBA website and click on the “Political
Action” button, at right.

Hold the dates for the Annual PBA Convention which has been scheduled
for August 27, 28, and 29 at the Hudson Valley Resort and Spa. Information
about the convention will be supplied shortly to your delegates.
We look forward to seeing you there.
This is John Puglissi. Thanks for calling the PBA Hotline.
