PBA HotlineJuly 29, 2003

Hello, This is Bob Zink, Recording Secretary for the Patrolmen’s Benevolent Association. Thank you for calling the PBA Hotline.

The PBA asks all members to show solidarity with the Communications Workers Union should a strike occur against Verizon.

We have learned that Verizon’s managers may attempt to hire off-duty Police Officers for security or fill-in work. The PBA asks you not to accept any off-duty work offered by the Verizon company during the CWU Strike.

The CWU leadership and its members are always supportive of our rallies particularly our Times Square rally and this is an opportunity to show our support in their time of need.

The PBA reminds you as you travel to vacation spots around the country to check on the local regulations regarding traveling with and the carrying your weapon in other jurisdictions.

Please be aware that firearms laws differ significantly from state to state, and that you should obtain accurate information regarding your ability to carry your firearm while visiting.

Seton Hall University is offering an opportunity to earn a Masters Degree in human resources training and development at half price to NYPD members.

The program is staffed by Seton Hall faculty and highly qualified members of the law-enforcement community who serve as adjunct professors. Classes are on weekend mornings at two convenient locations.

For more information contact Seton Hall University at 973-761-9223 or Dr. Dominick Varricchio at 917-980-3027 or visit The PBA Website.

This is Bob Zink. Thanks for calling the PBA Hotline.
