Happy HolidaysDecember 22, 2004

Hello, this is Pat Lynch, President of the New York City Patrolmen’s Benevolent Association.

Hearings before the New York State Public Employment Relations Board (PERB) are continuing. A three-person panel consisting of a neutral chairman, a city and a PBA representative are hearing the case.

The case should continue until mid-January.

As you know, the process is very similar to a trial with opening arguments, witnesses and evidence and then closing arguments.

Once all the evidence is heard the three-person panel will work among themselves to fashion a decision. That decision will be binding on the city and the PBA and will be the basis for our August 2002 to July 2004 contract.

For a brief synopsis of each day’s PERB hearing, please click on the “Contract” icon at right.

The PBA will also be sending a more detailed accounting of the PERB hearings in the form of a newsletter to our members home.

I hope everybody has a happy, healthy new year.

Thank you for calling the PBA Hotline.
