December
22, 2004
Hello, this is Pat Lynch, President of the New York City Patrolmen’s
Benevolent Association.
Hearings before the New York State Public Employment Relations
Board (PERB) are continuing. A three-person panel consisting of
a neutral chairman, a city and a PBA representative are hearing
the case.
The case should continue until mid-January.
As you know, the process is very similar to a trial with opening
arguments, witnesses and evidence and then closing arguments.
Once all the evidence is heard the three-person panel will work
among themselves to fashion a decision. That decision will be binding
on the city and the PBA and will be the basis for our August 2002
to July 2004 contract.
For a brief synopsis of each day’s PERB hearing, please click
on the “Contract” icon at right.
The PBA will also be sending a more detailed accounting of the
PERB hearings in the form of a newsletter to our members home.
I hope everybody has a happy, healthy new year.
Thank you for calling the PBA Hotline.
