Hello. This is Pat Lynch, president of the New York City Patrolmen's
Benevolent Association.
Arbitration and Our Contract
Our PERB panel met in executive session on Thursday, May 11. Despite
rumors to the contrary, no decision on the terms of our contract
was reached.
We have been informed that the city’s panelist will be on
vacation for the next three weeks and so no decision is likely until
her return in early June. Obviously, the PBA objected to this delay.
We share your frustration in this process.
It’s obviously clear, that the pay for New York City police
officers is not a priority for this mayor or his administration.
We will keep you informed of any decision as soon as possible.
Cop Killer Up for Parole
The PBA comes to you once again asking your support to keep another
cop killer in prison.
On August 19, 1974, police officer Thomas Pegues was shot in the
back of the head by a perp named John Gordon. Pegues and his partner
were doing car stops in the confines of the 103 Precinct when they
stopped a vehicle occupied by two males. The driver’s license
of the operator was suspended and as they were arresting him, John
Gordon, the passenger in the vehicle, came from behind and shot
both officers killing Officer Pegues.
The PBA will be supporting Mrs. Mary Pegues when she delivers her
victim’s impact statement to the New York state parole board.
Please make a point of signing the petitions being circulated in
opposition of the parole of this cold-blooded cop killer.
Additional copies of the petition can be obtained through your
trustees or from the PBA office.
Thank you for your support and patience and thank you for calling
the PBA hotline.
