Manhattan:
A June 14 Op-Ed by Carol Kellermann (“Pension sweeteners a bitter prospect for New York City”) is factually inaccurate and offensive to NYC police officers and firefighters. The legislation in question would provide NYC cops and firefighters with basic equality with their counterparts across the state.
Since 2009, they have received an inferior pension benefit to every other jurisdiction in the state. Kellermann argues this basic benefit would kill reforms from 2012. However, the same reforms remain under this bill.
