Aug. 29 Pat Lynch is quoted in the Poughkeepsie Journal in a story about the PBA civil suit attempting to recover for the widow of John Scarangella the $15,000 awarded his killer in a judgment he obtained against the state Dept. of Correction: "The cold-blooded murder of a police officer deprives a family of a husband, father and frequently the family¹s primary breadwinner. Seeking financial restitution from cop killers is morally just and legally appropriate. The New York City Patrolmen¹s Benevolent Association will seek legal judgments from cop killers whenever possible to offer financial relief to the families of murdered police officers."

Jun. 29 Pat Lynch is quoted in the New York Times, Daily News, New York Post, Newsday, the Staten Island Advance, the New York Sun and other newspapers, commenting on the PBA¹s PERB arbitration contract award: "While this 10.25 percent award raise over two years significantly exceeds the pattern that the mayor wanted us to accept, it¹s only a step in the right direction for us to complete our goal of being the best paid police department in the country." The Times continued: "Mr. Lynch criticized the lower starting pay for rookies, saying it would aggravate the city¹s trouble in recruiting officers." June 28 PBA General Counsel Michael Murray is quoted in an article in the Chief-Leader about the state's highest court agreeing to hear the case in the PBA¹s legal attempt to preserve the 48-hour rule: "We always believed we had strong arguments. We think this is ultimately the court we need to be in front of to prevail."
Jun. 23 The New York Times runs the PBA¹s full-page ad urging salary increases for New York City police officers.
Jun. 20 Pat Lynch is quoted in the New York Post in a story about three sergeants testifying to the fact of NYPD ticket quotas at a PBA grievance hearing: "The evidence presented under oath in this arbitration proves once again what police officers have long lived with: There are established quotas, and if you don¹t meet them, you will be punished." Lynch is also quoted in a Daily News article about the violent video game whose goal is to kill police: "It¹s outrageous that a company like this would try to desensitize our children." The game is likely to produce "cowards that will hide behind a gun," he added. Lynch appears on WCBS-TV¹s 11 p.m. newscast, commenting on the PBA¹s newspaper ad campaign urging that police officers be paid fairly. Jun. 19 On Fox-5 and WB11, Pat Lynch joins Senator Chuck Schumer in voicing opposition to a violent video game where the goal is to kill police.
Jun. 16 Pat Lynch is quoted in a New York Times article about Gov. Pataki¹s signing of a bill to increase pension payments to city employees who worked at Ground Zero: "The measure shows that we will never forget the heroes of 9/11." The story was also covered in the Daily News.
Jun. 15 Pat Lynch is the featured guest on NY 1¹s Road to City Hall, (video) discussing the lack of a contract and the impending PERB settlement. He described the city¹s performance in the negotiations as "disgraceful. The city never once sat down at the bargaining table and bargained realistically with the New York City PBA...We¹re one of the lowest-paid police departments in the country." Lynch pointed out that at the start of the PERB process New York City police officers were ranked 145th in salary out of the 200 big-city departments and now have slipped even further to 153rd. "That¹s an embarrassment for the largest and the best police department in the world."
Jun. 14 Pat Lynch¹s photo and quotes appear in an article in Newsday and his quotes in a story in the New York Post about the lack of police staffing around a Long Island City subway station where a woman was recently raped: "This dramatizes exactly what can happen when you allow the staffing levels to become so dangerously low."
Jun. 13 On New York 1 (video), Pat Lynch joins Assemblywoman Nolan and TWU VP Ed Watt in calling for increased staffing at scene of subway rape.
Jun. 11 The News and Post cover the quick action of the PBA concerning the removal of a trustee accused of impropriety. Lynch said. "Let this serve as a message that any breach of our membership's trust will result in swift and sure action."
Jun. 8 Pat Lynch is quoted in the Daily News Civil Service column item about more than 360 New York City police officers joining the FDNY: "It's about salary. New York City police officers arent¹t getting paid like professional police officers." The item also mentions the PBA newspaper ad campaign, and Lynch is quoted: "We want to remind the public that New York City police officers are still without a contract. Also news stories cover Officer Patrick Caprice's release from hospital: WCBS, WNBC, Fox-5, New York 1, UPN9, and WB11.
Jun. 7 The first in a three-newspaper run of an PBA full-page ad appears in the Chief-Leader: "THE TIME HAS COME TO PAY NYC POLICE OFFICERS FAIRLY. IF NOT NOW, WHEN?" the ad says in part. The ad compares the generous contract recently awarded the state troopers with the unsatisfactory deals New York City police officers have been stuck with in the past and are being offered now.

Pat Lynch is seen and heard on New York 1, commenting on the PBA¹s latest newspaper ad campaign: "What we're asking is to be paid like other police professionals. Right here in the city of New York, Port Authority police officers who are patrolling the same streets and the same facilities that we do are being paid $20,000 more to start than a NYC police officer."

May 27 Pat Lynch is seen and heard on News-4 New York¹s Ralph Penza¹s report on Charles Barron¹s Joanne Chesimard resolution: "Joanne Chesimard, a cold-blooded killer...should serve her time for murdering a New Jersey state trooper...She was a coward then. She ran from her responsibilities. And she¹s a coward now."
May 26 The New York Sun quotes Pat Lynch proposed City Council resolution to grant Joanne Chesimard amnesty: "It¹s beyond outrageous that a sitting City Council person should stand on the steps of City Hall and say that a cold-blooded murderer,somebody who tried to take down our government and killed a New Jersey state trooper...should be allowed to walk our streets safely."
May 25 Pat Lynch is quoted in a Daily News story about Councilman Charles Barron's plan to introduce a City Council resolution urging clemency for fugitive cop-killer Joanne Chesimard: "This is outrageous even by Coucilman Barron's standards. Joanne Chesimard is a cold-blooded killer who viciously took the life of a state trooper."
May 19 Pat Lynch is quoted in an article in the New York Sun about the wait for the PERB panel's decision: "Every year at budget time they start saying there is a huge deficit and that the city is broke. They always plead poverty. This year they have a balanced budget and a surplus. The reason they have that surplus is because people feel safe in the city of New York because the foot soldiers in the war on crime and terrorism ñ the police officers ñ make them feel safe."
May 16 Pat Lynch marks National Police Week by appearing on WWRL radio with Steve Malzberg, discussing the PERB arbitration and other matters affecting New York City police officers. "Throughout this process..." Lynch tells the radio audience, "the city never once sat down and tried to work with the PBA to come up with a contract that would work for the people of the city and would work for our members as well."
May 7 Pat Lynch is quoted in a New York Times story about union reaction to the mayor's announcement of a $3.3-billion surplus: "The surplus shows that there's not an inability to pay. There's an unwillingness to pay."
