PRESS RELEASE

PBA opposes plan to hire part timers to replace active police officers and detectives

PBA president Lynch said:

“This union would be vehemently opposed to the idea of replacing active police officers and detectives who are performing vital and important functions with part time employees.  This proposal is a corruption of the original retiree program that was designed to take advantage of the expertise of retired members of the service during severe emergencies, like September 11th, and not to take jobs from active duty police officers.”
