Lynch slams arbitrator's payday saying it was "not legitimately earned ..."

NYC PBA president Patrick J. Lynch said:

“Howard Edelman clearly did not legitimately earn his pay in this arbitration.  He shirked his responsibility as an independent arbitrator by ignoring the clear provisions of the Taylor Law and by failing to consider testimony from previous PERB arbitrations which were accepted as part of the record.  Additionally, while sitting in judgment of the police officer’s contract, he accepted future work from the city, a clear conflict of interest, and failed to inform the PBA.  Similar actions taken by a city employee would have resulted in immediate dismissal.  Edelman put his own future well-being before that of the police officers who sought the fair market rate of pay that the Taylor law requires.”
