Mayor, Police Commissioner join PBA to celebrate families of fallen heroes

Mayor Eric Adams and Police Commissioner Keechant Sewell joined the Finest for a cheerful holiday celebration for the families of fallen police officers at the NYC Police Benevolent Association’s Annual Widows’ & Children’s Holiday Party today (Saturday, Dec. 10) at a waterside restaurant in Howard Beach, Queens.

Hundreds of family members — representing more than 80 New York City police officers killed in the line of duty —  joined the Mayor and top NYPD executives at the Russo’s on the Bay for the decades-old celebration hosted by the NYC PBA in cooperation with other NYPD unions. The event included face painting, magic, food and dancing for the families, as well as appearances by the NYPD Mounted Unit, Canine Units and a special visit from Santa Claus, escorted in by the NYPD Emerald Society Pipes & Drums.

NYC PBA President Patrick J. Lynch said: 

“One of a New York City police officers’ most sacred obligations is to care for our fallen heroes’ families like they are our own. The PBA has been holding these holiday parties for our ‘Blue Family’ for generations    it’s a tradition that brings a bit of joy and fun to those who’ve made great sacrifices for the rest of us.”
