At the podium, Pat Lynch, president of the PBA of New York City. Behind Pat to the right is Steve Cassidy, president of the New York City firefighters union. The two unions have joined forces to campaign relentlessly for a raise for their members. Public safety employees in the Big Apple have been working without a contract for close to three years. Despite the fact that they provide police service in our nation's largest city with tens of millions of calls for service every year, NYPD police officers are among the lowest-paid of any big city cops in the nation.
