Out of the Past

Patrolman Frank Bruno, pictured here alongside his patrol car in 1937, had a 35-year career in the NYPD (1933-1968). After working for many years out of the 44 Pct. in the Highbridge section of the Bronx, he retired as a detective in the 23 Pct. squad. The car in this photo is a 1937 Ford coupe. Officer Bruno is deceased, and the photo was provided by his daughter, Lynne Bruno.
