On
May 27, 2005, at 0200 hours, P.O. Thomas Mitchell of the
101 Precinct was involved in an RMP accident that left him
paralyzed from the neck down.
He and his partner were responding to a robbery in progress
when the accident occurred at Rockaway Turnpike and Pearl
Street.
Officer Mitchell, 31, is an eight-year veteran
of the NYPD. He is married and the father of a baby girl.
Currently, Tom is going through extensive therapy at the
Kessler Rehabilitation Institute in New Jersey.
We are attempting to raise money to assist
Tom and his family with many of the unforeseen expenses
that will be incurred, including those for extensive renovations
to his house to meet his handicapped needs and for the purchase
of a converted van, once he comes home sometime next year.
Please ask your members, supervisors, detectives,
friends and relatives to purchase vacation raffle tickets
for a drawing that will be held on Oct. 21 at the 101 Pct.
