PBA Photo-Ops/PBA President Pat Lynch poses at June 13 luncheon at which P.O. Brian Sheehy was honored as Staten Island’s Cop of the Year, an event sponsored by that borough’s chamber of commerce and the Staten Island Advance. In March 2006, Officer Sheehy rescued an eight-month-old boy from the frigid waters of New York Harbor. Less than a year later, he was seriously injured in an RMP accident while responding to a burglary-in-progress. He remains on medical leave but, fortunately, was sound enough to receive this much-deserved award.

The typical suspect was apparently better dressed than today's versions in the 1960s when these officers had to draw their weapons to make a car stop on a Manhattan East Side street off Third Avenue. Photo courtesy of The New York City Police Museum.
