Thomas P. HellemCity-Wide TrusteeThomas P. Hellem has been a union member and advocate for many years, even before he became active in the PBA. The new City-Wide Trustee was a union carpenter before joining the NYPD and not only kept but enhanced and fine-tuned his pro-labor disposition during his service as a police officer. After being assigned to the 67 Pct. for six months after his July 1992 NYPD appointment, he was transferred to the 71 where he has served ever since. And that is where his fellow police officers elected him a PBA delegate in 2002 and where he has served their interests ever since. Hellem has been a valuable asset to the PBA and has served on its Bylaws Committee. He was appointed to the PBA Board on Sept. 18. “It’s a real honor to represent my brother and sister officers city-wide,” he says. North Babylon born and bred, Hellem has 11-year-old twin sons, Kenneth and Charles. |
