STATEMENT FROM NYC PBA PRESIDENT
PATRICK J. LYNCH REGARDING
THE DC 37 CONTRACT SETTLEMENT

We are pleased that the city has backed off its stance that all raises for city workers must be self-funded and that the city will be paying well-deserved retroactive raises to hard-working and hard-pressed DC 37 members. Given the wide disparity between police officer’s salaries in the metropolitan area and the NYPD’s serious recruitment and retention problem recognized by the state’s arbitrator last year, it is clear that this type of settlement will not serve the best interest of the City of New York or its heroic police officers.
