NYC PBA NAMES STANLEY CROUCH
“MAN OF THE YEAR”
Daily News columnist, social critic, author and musician Stanley
Crouch has been named the 2005 NYC PBA Man of the Year, it was announced
today by PBA president Patrick J. Lynch.
PBA president Lynch said: “Stanley Crouch is a man of great
words and great courage and we are proud to name him as our 2005
PBA Man of the Year. His writings on difficult topics such as profiling,
race relations and on the challenging and often unappreciated work
of police officers is sometimes controversial but it is always insightful.
He writes what he believes without paying homage to the political
correctness that has stifled individual thought in many people today.
He is as bold in his support for New York City police officers as
he is in his condemnation of the city’s “cheapskate”
attitude in compensating the men and women who risk their lives
every day to keep New York City safe and civil. If Stanley Crouch
wasn’t called in this life to be a great writer and columnist,
he might have made a good cop.”
Mr. Crouch will receive the award and be the keynote speaker at
a luncheon to be held during the 111th PBA Convention at Kutsher’s
Country Club in Monticello, NY, on September 8, 2005. Mr. Crouch
joins Senator Charles Schumer, radio personality Steve Malzberg,
Secretary of State Randy Daniels, and many others who have held
the PBA Man of the Year title.
