PBA REACTS TO NASSAU POLICE DEPARTMENT'S
RECRUITING IN NEW YORK
In reaction to the Nassau Police Department's recruiting activities
in NYC, PBA president Patrick J. Lynch said:
“New York
City has become the nation’s law enforcement job fair because
it produces excellent police officers that are easy to steal because
our top pay is not competitive. New York pays
its officers $59,500 at top pay while Nassau’s pay is nearly
$92,000. Until the NYPD pays a competitive salary, we will
continue to lose fully trained and experienced officers at an alarming
rate. We don’t blame any officer for pursuing a career
in any other community that recognizes the value of a police officer’s
work and pays them for it.”
