Campaign to Improve Tier 3 Pension Benefits

As a result of then-Governor David Paterson’s short-sighted veto of our Tier 2 Extender, New York City police officers hired since 2009 under the Tier 3 pension plan lack certain pension benefits received by other police officers around New York State.

Since then, the PBA has been fighting in Albany and City Hall to correct this injustice.  As a result, the Legislature passed, and the Governor signed, legislation to enhance accident disability benefits for Tier 3 members.  However, our fight is far from over — the PBA will continue pressing equitable pension benefits for Tier 3 members.
