PBA gearing up for another collective bargaining round
Amid departmentwide staffing shortages and political uncertainty at City Hall, the PBA is nearing another round of contract negotiations.
After submitting an official request to bargain in April, the union is now scheduled to sit down with the City for our formal collective bargaining session later this month, before the current contract expires on July 31. Earlier this month, the Contract Committee, which is composed of PBA delegates from every borough and bureau, met to discuss the issues and suggestions that they have heard from members that could be addressed through collective bargaining.
The PBA will be seeking significant wage increases, continuing the fight for a fair market rate of pay for our members. We are also exploring ways to improve members’ overall quality of life.
Several factors may affect the bargaining timeline, including ongoing negotiations with other City unions and the upcoming mayoral election. Nonetheless, the PBA is looking to move the process forward as quickly as possible.
As always, we will continue to keep members updated with further developments as contract negotiations progress.
