Statement of PBA President on the death of Police Officer Alain Schaberger

PBA President Patrick J. Lynch said:

“Police officers never know what to expect when they answer a radio run.  While Officer Schaberger made the ultimate sacrifice in the line of duty, his family too has sacrificed more than can be asked or expected.  They will live with that sacrifice every day of the rest of their lives.  While we honor the courage of Officer Schaberger as we prepare to lay him to rest, we must also question a system that allows a vile and violent career criminal with scores of arrests for violent offenses to continue to walk our neighborhoods.  The system cannot make those same mistakes again and must put this mutt away for life without possibility of parole.”
