Statement from PBA president Patrick J. Lynch on increased violence against Police Officers

PBA president Patrick J. Lynch said:

“Vertical patrols are among the most dangerous kinds of police work performed not only by Housing officers but by all of us, because you never know what’s lurking above the next landing of the staircase. The increase in violence against police officers in this city this year is not surprising. It can be traced directly to the increased presence of guns on the street and the dangerous 7,000-officer decrease in staffing levels in the NYPD.”
