Statement of PBA President Patrick J. Lynch on state budget agreement providing NYC Police Officers an adequate disability benefit

PBA president Patrick J. Lynch said:

“We applaud the recently announced budget agreement between Governor Cuomo and the Legislature, because it finally makes protecting New York City police officers a priority. As a result of this agreement, New York City police officers hired since 2009 under pension Tier 3 will be afforded an adequate disability benefit — the same benefit already available to every other police officer in New York State — in the event that they are injured in the line of duty.  We are especially grateful to Governor Cuomo and the Senate for their efforts to correct this injustice over the past several years.  We look forward to continuing to work with city and state lawmakers to continue to protect the women and men who protect our city.”
