Contract Update
First Mediation Session
Dear PBA Member:
I am writing with an update on our contract process. Today, we held our first mediation session with representatives from the City’s Office of Labor Relations and mediators appointed by the state Public Employment Relations Board (PERB).
During this initial session, the mediators spent significant time with both parties in order to learn our respective positions and concerns. For our part, we informed the mediator that our objective is to reach a negotiated settlement with the City. However, any such agreement must make substantial progress towards closing the wage gap between our members and our counterparts in other local law enforcement agencies. The mediators are now reviewing that information and working with the PBA and the City to schedule a follow-up session.
As always, we will continue to update you on our next steps as the mediation process moves forward.
