PRESS RELEASE

January 18, 2006

Lynch reacts to signing of C.O.P.S. bill

PBA President Patrick Lynch said:

“The NYPD is one of the few police departments in America that has fewer police officers today than it did on September 11, 2001 despite the obvious increase in workload caused by anti-terrorism activities. President Bush’s signing of the Community Oriented Policing Services (COPS) will help to put more police officers on the street making our neighborhoods safe. The New York City PBA offers our most sincere thanks to Representative Anthony Weiner for his hard work on this bill and to President Bush for making it a reality.”
