BA president Patrick J. Lynch slams COBRA president Norman Seabrook's announcement that its endorsement for mayor will hang on a pledge of the candidate to appoint a minority Police Commissioner.

PBA president Patrick J. Lynch slams COBRA president Norman Seabrook's announcement that its endorsement for mayor will hang on a pledge of the candidate to appoint a minority Police Commissioner, saying:

“The police commissioner selection should be based on finding the best qualified person nothing more and nothing less.  The police department is facing serious obstacles in a very anti-police atmosphere that requires the best leadership available who will actually lead the men and women of the NYPD.  We can assume that all is well in Corrections if they are focusing on our commissioner and department and not their own.”
