PRESS RELEASE

June 5, 2013

PBA president Pat Lynch defends the actions of the police officers who pursued an erratic driver

PBA president Patrick J. Lynch said:

“There is no script or crystal ball for police officers working the streets. They have to make instantaneous judgments to act based upon what they observe.  In this case, they observed a vehicle being operated erratically and judged that it was in the interest of public safety to get this dangerous driver off the streets.  The blame for this tragedy lies squarely on the shoulders of an irresponsible person who was driving illegally and made a conscious decision to run from police.  That bad and irresponsible decision alone is responsible for the tragic death of that innocent little girl.”
