PRESS RELEASE

September 22, 2014

Pat Lynch calls Judge Scheindlin’s remark about how body cameras would have prevented Eric Garner’s death “absurd.”

PBA president Patrick J. Lynch said:

“Judge Scheindlin’s contention that body cams would have made a difference is absurd.  These police officers were deployed to correct a crime condition by making a lawful arrest which Mr. Garner resisted unfortunately resulting in this tragedy. It was obvious that they were being recorded and it didn't change anything.”
