PBA endorses line-of-duty widow Jozette Carter-Williams in Staten Island City Council race
PBA President Patrick Hendry is quoted in the Staten Island Advance: “North Shore Staten Islanders deserve a City Council member who understands what it takes to keep them safe. Police officers deserve a City Council member who understands what cops and our families go through. Jozette Carter-Williams doesn’t just understand those things – she has lived them. We know she will be a powerful voice in the City Council, speaking up for public safety and working with police officers, not against us. We are proud to endorse her.”

Data: Rate of cops leaving NYPD so far outpacing 2024
PBA President Patrick Hendry is quoted in Newsday: “New York City police officers know they can find better benefits and a better quality of life just by changing the patch on their shoulders. Police agencies across New York State know they can find as many highly skilled, highly trained applicants as they need by recruiting directly from the ranks of the NYPD.”

Queens neighborhood petitions for help as meet-up mobs vandalize NYPD vehicles, sparking near-riot
PBA President Patrick Hendry is quoted in the NY Post: PBA President Patrick Hendry claimed the disorder was a result of an “anti-police environment in the city…Criminals feel free to terrorize our communities and attack cops because they believe they won’t be held accountable. Cops are sick and tired of dealing with this environment, and it’s another major reason they’re running for the exits.”

Court reseals record in case of NYPD cop found not guilty in fatal off-duty shooting
PBA President Patrick Hendry is quoted in Gothamist: “By attempting to strip police officers of the fundamental due process rights afforded to every other New Yorker, CCRB has demonstrated once again that they have no interest whatsoever in fairness or justice. PBA President Patrick Hendry is quoted in SILive: “Police Officer Gerard Carter was a hero who never got a second chance at life. It is absolutely shameful that this three-time killer gets a fresh chance at freedom every few years. The time between parole hearings should be lengthened to minimize the trauma on suffering family members…”

NYPD reduces college credit requirements in bid to ease staffing crisis
PBA President Patrick Hendry is quoted in the NY Post: “Tweaking the hiring standards alone won’t solve the NYPD’s staffing crisis. New York City is competing with other departments that not only have lower education requirements but also offer other benefits and better quality of life. Even those who do choose the NYPD will continue to view it as a stepping stone to a better policing job. Instead of another Band-Aid, New York City needs to look at long-term solutions and incentives that will help us recruit and retain the Finest.”

Perp who slugged female NYPD cop and then was released on lowered bail rearrested for slugging woman in random Times Square attack
PBA President Patrick Hendry is quoted in the NY Post: “Nobody should be surprised that a dangerous repeat offender who attacked a police officer in full uniform would turn around and attack a defenseless New Yorker. The only mystery here is why he was allowed back on the streets. This case is just more proof that those who assault police officers need to be kept behind bars.”

NYPD, facing recruitment and retention crisis, considers lowering college requirement
PBA President Patrick Hendry is quoted in Newsday: “Lowering the education requirement won’t solve the NYPD’s staffing crisis,” Hendry said, adding New York City is competing with other police departments with lower education requirements, better benefits and quality of life. No matter the education level, police choose other departments or use NYPD jobs as a stepping stone to better jobs.
